Glad I didn't get that radar detector, more cops are using laser anyway.

1. Why $600? Mine was $300
and that's just for the poly lenses. I'm sorely nearsighted and the glass would be extremely think if it wasn't for the poly lenses.

6. Awesomeness personified.
They're Ralph Lauren frame$. Some posh name, but they look great.

I was all set to buy 4 pairs of generic 2-pairs-fer-$99 when I inquired about the high-end models.

Two Ralph Lauren frames really looked good, enough for me to spend the extra dough. Very stylish.

While the sunglasses are of generic frame stock (from the two-for-$99 sale), it costs extra to put on the relevant coatings, so net cost there is ~$150. :-( And those use the base plastic, I can handle the astigmatism... I hope! :D

5. You are not an astronaut
You do not need 14 different coatings, most of which don't work anyway.

7. Great timing... :-)
the only coating I got was the anti-reflective/UV; with the selling point of being better for computer work amongst other sundry selling points I couldn't have cared less about.

I did pay for the top-end lenses, due to my astigmatism and a good salesman. :-)

And it is two pair of main eyeglasses.

10. Compared to what my friend's dad had to get...
$800 for 4 pairs total is a good deal.

(my friend's dad spent $1200 for TWO pair. :wow: )

11.  hi, HypnoToad...can you get LASIK?
it's expensive, but the savings in the long run is worth it, + you have forever freed yourself from the tyranny of the optometrist! Some LASIK doctors have payment plans if you can't afford to pay the entire fee up front, as it can be expensive. :-(

12. Can't. I have a tendency to shift my eyes around...
unless they can lock my eyeballs in one position (good luck to them!) I daren't risk it. :-(

13. too bad, but at least you'll look great in your new glasses!
Glasses are mighty expensive, I know. I was just suggesting LASIK as I had it done several years ago with no complications.

14. I appreciate the suggestion, and am glad

it worked for you! (and for others, LASIK is a great procedure for those with the ability to keep their eyes open properly. :-) )

In a parallel universe, I'd have done the same.

15. I'll get LASIK
when every single optometrist and opthamologist in the land has had it done. Five years after that.

I only have one pair of eyes, I'm not jacking around with 'em.
