Can anyone help me change my Athlon XP 2600 FSB?
Am trying to use an Athlon XP 2600+ 266 FSB cpu on my ASUS A7A266 rev. 1.10 mobo. Have flashed the BIOS to rev 1012 per ASUS recomendations but can't seem to get the correct BIOS settings to get the cpu to operate at its correct speed. It is currently detected as operating at a 1.6 GHz speed NOT 2.1 GHZ as I think it should be running.

It's has defaulted to 100 FSB

ANY help would be appreciated.

1. I always force the settings, don't use the auto-detect
My 2100+ was seen as a 1.3GHz CPU until I told the BIOS that it is 333MHz FSB at x multiplier (okay, so I made a 2100+ to a 2750+, but that's another story. )

2. You have to setup...
Your voltages and multipliers and whatnot. It should be in the bois somewhere.

I suggest you check some sites like Tom's Hardware or HardOCP or Ars technica.

3. You might want to ask at the nForcers forum

I'm not familiar with that MB, but generally you can change all those settings in the BIOS. Change the timing options from 'optimized', to 'manual' and then go to town mucking with it.

4. You can manually set it in the bios to 133
Just reference your manual, most of the time you can find it just going in there and checking the different bios screens.
