I am currently reading an awesome book... "Ishmael" by Dan Quinn
I am about half though it and have found it very insightful. My sister recommended the book a couple of years ago but I just bought it last Friday. Anybody have any thoughts they would like to share on its message?

2. That is a hard question to answer...
Its about a Gorilla that has learned to communicate with humans. He is a very insightful fella, who is trying to teach humans something about living on the earth. The correct way.

I guess that puts it in a nutshell.... I am anxious to read the rest of the story. My sister said it is her number one favorite book... so I thought I better read it...so far.... It has been very entertaining and I can see how it helps a person look at things from a different point of view.

3. Read his "Beyond Civilization"...
It's the non-fiction version. I recommend these books all the time to people. Very inspiring. Anyone who's disgusted with the present state of human society will find hope again after reading Quinn.

It's sort of about what comes after this society. A sort of step forward to the past in a sense.

Every left-person should read Quinn.

4. there's another ishmael related book
called 'my ishmael'

in 'ishmael' you'll notice that he talks about previous students...'my ishmael' details one of those encounters

quinn's 'story of b' is another excellent read.

7. It is Great. It's been building word of mouth notice for quite awhile.
It's one of those books people buy for their friends after reading it.

It has moments of insight.

It's really hard to discuss in detail without "spoilers" though.

8. I read it about 5 years ago.
I liked it and there was something very profound about it that hit me, but I never read any other of Quinn's book. What hit me the most was the Biblical interpretations related to the analysis of what it meant by the story of Adam and Eve- that as hunter gatherers we did have a paradise and the Earth provided us with what we needed, but once there was organized agriculture and the concept of "owning land" came into play, that's when the mass scale wars started as well as famine. It changed my view of religion on a rather core level that has kind of stayed with me because I saw something from a perspective I never would have thought of.

9. The Story of B is even better, also by Quinn

After that you might as well go ahead and start reading John Zerzan.
