Happiness is....When your pet recognizes his/her name
9 months of pet owning and the greatest thrill is to call Abbott's name and he comes running to me.

:loveya:

PS: Evita won't run to me when she hears her name but she will look at me. That might be the best I'll get from that spoiled princess

3. Happiness (or insanity) is
telling your parrot to wait a few minutes because you need to go to the bathroom before putting him to bed - only to come out of the bathroom and see that he has disappeared from his tree (BIG perch like thing). So you wander around the house looking for him, only to discover that he walked through three rooms to get to his 'house' (cage) and he's waiting on it for you to put him to bed.

He did this to me last night. I laughed so hard. I tell ya, when it's 9pm, you had better be ready to put him to bed or else! How he ever learned how to tell time I'll never know. :)

4. my cat has so many "pet" names he's confused?!!
He recognizes all of them though. When he lies on the cable box in my office sleeping, if I quietly whisper his favorite names, he flicks the end of his tail. Like, YES MOM, I HEAR YOU, now stop annoying me....

6. And, you know they truly have... when they respond to others/strangers
calling their name. My little Aussie mix would cock her head when she heard anyone say "Tallulah," thereby ending any doubt at all that it was just the sound of my voice causing her to respond. She recognizes plenty of other words too. These darlings are so smart-- non-pet owners just don't realize what they are missing.
