6. Finally hearing the "other side" unfiltered can be quite a revelation...

Imagine listening to someone arguing over the phone, and having to form an opinion of the other side just from what you can hear...

...and then suddenly you discover a way to hear the other side speaking for themselves, without caricature and able to fully develop their arguments...

It can be a revalation of almost religious proportions. (In fact, a variant of this probably does include religious conversions.)
