Deadheads - What New Years show had K Kesey and father Guido Sarducci?
They hosted a New Years show that I had a long lost tape of years ago. I think it was around 85, 86 or 87.

Kesey was freaked out and started shreaking about FDR and such - priceless!

What was it?

2. Thats right! I think thats the first time I ever heard Franken
I remember we were all around the radio in the living room (I was 10)

No wonder when I first smoked pot it reminded me of being a safe and contented kid - comfort smoke as it were. :)

Here's the next question - how do I get an MP3 of it?

7. Not sure....
None of my reference guides say that Kesey or Franken were there for New Years 85. Maybe they were on the radio locally (NY? Kesey?!) I'm not sure about that date, Josh.

Do you remember what they played?

14. Ahhhhh.....
Shit, I bet I would love it.

Here's waht the authors of The Deadhead's Taping Compendium say about the commentary:

"The DJ commentary is provided by Tom Franken and Al Davis (sic)....Disappointingly, this New Year's commentary by them is all but useless. They fail to spark any intelligent or humorous commentary........."

Huh. Usually these guys are on the money, but if you and Wolff liked it, it musta been funny....

13. THAT's right....
87. Okay, that makes sense.

You should be able to find a clean FM-SBD of that show; Any FM broadcast shows are ususally pretty easy to find amongst collectors.

SouthoftheborderPaul always wanted me to find a tape of 3/27/87 HArtford for him because it was his first show. I tried a buch of times; it's just a really obscure show, and not circulating on SBD, as far as I know.

21. Paul's there?!
Right on, right on, right on....Hey Paul! Come to Chicago! Play some shows!

Shit, when are both you mugs gonna come see me here?! We should do the next "project" here; I'll upgrade my memory and get the software, and you guys can go buckwild. You'd LOVE CHICAGO.

Me thinks the next step would be, of course, upload "Theme for the Funky Viking" to DU.

I'd love to download shows, but it takes so damned long (i've tried it) and the memory on this computer is all but filled. I'm still busy burning all my tapes onto CD! (I had no idea I had so much live Dead on tape...I always consideredd myself a newbie until I realized I had more than Chris Mitchell or Travis Moody back in their respective heydeys right now....)
