Have you ever hung out with the Rainbow Family?

I did once in upstate New York. It was pretty interesting. I found out I'm a lot more bourgeois than I thought I was :)

I remember walking in and seeing Feds, actual feds(!) with listening equipment and all sorts of vans and whatnot watching everything from a short distance.

Afterward a cop friend of my father-in-law claimed that everyone got hepititis from one of the kitchens. When I asked him how he knew that he avoided answering (because it wasn't true- he just wanted it to be true).

I might try going again some time. Maybe my mind is freer now.

Have you ever hung out with them? What was it like?

In Tampa Florida.......in the 70's before I new him......


He attended an annual gathering in the 81; He came back 2 days prior to our divorce hearing.......I'll never forget this.....In the hallway, just before going into court, he grabbed my male attorney and gave him a great big kiss......Spewed something about loving everyone.....


I was in shock....so was my attorney.

4. there was a rainbow farm commune outside Drain, Or

and i really wanted to stay there, but i was not ready to give up cigarettes and meat...that was 72...is that the same rainbow family, or a different one?
they were cool hippies and there were a lot of cute guys. but looking back, i think they were into spiritual materialism-i could be projecting, though. the food was good, but i went home and finished high school.
they were generous with what they had.
a few years later, my bf and i were traveling past there and i made him take me to the coast on that road. as we passed the farm, i could see it was dystopic then...you know fallen to pieces, unkempt, some scraggly people and kids hanging out, and heard later on there had been some hippie wars that had shattered what had been a seemingly nice community...
