Temperature question.
I once had a knock down drag out discussion with someone on this subject, but truth is, I've never been able to fully resolve it in my mind, so I give it to DU to sort out.

You know how they say if you want to keep a house cool open the windows at night and close them in the morning? You thereby trap the cool air in the house and keep the hot air outside. So far so good.

BUT, what if in the morning the temperature outside is substantially cooler than the temperature inside - should you close them anyway? Or should you leave them open until the temperature inside is the same as the temperature outside?

Have at it, mon ami.

1. if you're going to be home, leave them open
"Close them during the day" assumes you'll be at work all day, unable to close the windows when it gets hot out.

3. Close the windows when you find the inside temperature starts to rise.
Open them again when the outside temperature drops below the inside temperature.

Assuming you're home with time to keep track of these things.
