Quick update on my mom
And it's good news!

Her lymph node was CLEAN... which means no more surgery for her.

They will start her 7 wks. of radiation next week. But it looks like the worst is over.

Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts.

Glad your mom is all right. We could use some good news around here and that is good news. Hope she lives a long and happy life.

2. Yay!
:toast:
That sounds pretty similar to my grandmother's case -- radiation, Tamoxifen. She's been in remission for a couple of years now.

9. That's great, Miss Millie. What did she have? My dad just got diagnosed
with a rectal tumor, plus it's unfortunately metasticized to his liver and the bottom of his lungs. We're verrrry frustrated so far at his treatment, as there's been NOTHING done to treat the cancers, cuz he was pretty weak and dehydrated----he waited until he was really sick to finally go to the doc---and he can't eat (no appetite, nausea, dry mouth, mouth sores) so he's not getting strong enuff to get his chemo, and for the life of us we can't figure out why they won't give him nourishment thru and IV until he's stronger! They occasionally give him fluids only, but nothing to nourish him. It's the most bizarre thing we've ever seen. The ensures they give him are stacked a mile high on his window sill, but no one seems to be concerned. They sent him home after an ostomy even tho we said he was too sick, and after 4 days of not eating or drinking he became severely dehydrated and had to be rushed to the hospital (plus his legs swelled up---blood clots!).

Did you have to fight with the docs to get proper treatment for your mom? Yeesh, this is ridiculous. We said, look, just tell us if you're not treating him cuz he's going to die soon, so we can take him home and they said "oh, he's not THAT sick!"

So why aren't they treating him better? There's a whole team of doctors and no one seems to ever have looked at his chart, when you corner one. One is the dr for our local NFL team, and once worked in my dad's lab at georgetown U (and he taught a couple of the others there) and STILL he gets lousy treatment.

10. Breast cancer
they removed a lump back in July and diagnosed her. This time they were checking out the lymph nodes.

My mom's doctors have been just great, fortunately. I'm sorry your dad hasn't had the same.
