I need business name. Help me..
I am taking a class for a startup business, and would appreciate some ideas. I am aware this isn't the safest place to do it, but I need ideas and most of you DU'ers have come up with great ones for ideas.

My business is this: I want to be able to provide high-quality disabled tech support online and dispatch disabled tech supports to the disabled community.

So far I've come up with this:

disAbled Tech Support
disAbility Tech Providers
Abled Tech

I'm hoping you can come up with better ideas for marketing purpose.

Rules:

* It should be tasteful, catchy and easy to remember.
* It should be easy to pronounce.
* It should be unique, but clearly indicate my services.
* It should be selected with my customers in mind.
* It should be short
* It should project a positive image.

Mind you, I'm not looking for a logo yet. Maybe that will come soon.

8. Ah, of course! I just tend to think of all 'puters as PCs since they are
often Personal Computers....isn't that what the PC stands for?
Never did figure out how that became synonymous with "IBM clone."

5. I didn't know you were deaf.
I'LL TYPE LOUDER. HOW'S THAT?
Sorry, Hawk. Couldn't resist.
I kinda like AbleTech. Abled Tech sounds a bit clumsy. Call for some SERIOUS enunciation.
Sometimes you can't say it all in the name, like XEROX.
What the hell is a xerox?
You might be able to do it with a subtext tagline.
"Tech support for the disabled BY the disabled."
Are you going to concentrate mainly on the hearing impaired, or other physical disabilities?

Hadn't thought about it, but I can see how seeing and hearing impaired folks, those with prostheses (sp?) or partially paralyzed would have special needs. You may be on to something. If I were disabled I'd rather deal with a company who was employing people like me.
Good on ya.

7. I like it!
The tagline is great! That's actually a part of the mission statement I wrote.

The idea is to work with ALL people with disablities. Including the vets. That's why there's potential for this business. Specialized stuff works wonders.

9. I like that idea
It goes off the idea of disabilities and focuses on "abilities". In my business (social services) we have shifted to special needs as opposed to disabilities - disabilities seen as more negative.

Good luck!

11. It's a "been there, done that" kinda thang.
"I can use a computer with my (fill in the blank disability) and we can set you up so you can too."
I like Old Europe's AbiliTech too.

10. I second the motion
AbleTech

Accentuate the positive--able rather than disable.

13. I like this.
I also like TechAble and TechAbled.

The domain name for techable is owned by some guy in Oregon, and techabled is parked, and I emailed both to see if they were interested in selling me their domain name.

15. Looking for a logo
We support the Paralyzed Veterans of America. They have what I remembered as a pretty clever logo, but I can't find a big enough graphic on their site.
While surfing, I did find this.
http://www.abilityhub.com/
Maybe you can get some ideas there?

16. I got some suggestions

Use either lower case or uppercase letters and don't combine them because it might not route your customers to the website if they type the address name in right because it is case sensitive.

I wouldn't put "dis" in my name at all. You want it to be positive not negative.

Think of the first three things that you want people to know that your business does like repair, build and fix or something like that.

Then you sit back and think up what would someone type in a search engine if they were looking up a company that they needed service from.

Do you work on Macs & PC's?

You want your business to be above the rest right then you want to let people know that in your name so it has to have something with higher standards in it.

Hmmm give me a while and I will help think of something.

17. AbleTech
My humble opinion is that I don't care for companies that target only people with disabilities. I find that they are usually scammers, or less competent that the companies with larger client bases. I don't like feeling like I'm being targetted.

Maybe it's too fine a distinction.
1. A tech support company that is capable of helping people with disabilities with special tech needs
vs
2. A tech support company for people with disabilities

But it *feels* like a huge issue to me.
