Back then the winner of the senior circuit would go on to the olympics to play for the country. That year the Winnepeg Falcons won the title and took their uni colors + the Canadian leaf crest on the chest of the jersey and brought home the Olympic Gold. BTW the color is "Antique Gold" and don't you forget it.
