2. Me. Chronic insomnia
Started a few months before Howard Dean's campaign started the "sleeples summer" bit. Cause is much the same. Personal perception. Belief that the country is driving over the edge of a cliff. Stuff like that.

Besides, I'm addicted to the X-Files.

14. Oh, other than this fundie from earlier, I'm doing OK
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 01:59 AM by chair094
I'm a liberal Christian, though I will admit to holding some fundie beliefs (I was baptized into a Southern Baptist church about four months ago). But I'm not a hard-core fundie; if you don't want to talk about religion, I'll leave you alone.

However, there are those fundies out there who will argue with anyone. In this case; opposing abortion wasn't enough; I had to support iraqnam, support the terra crusade...this one is too far gone.

He started by asking if I was going to join the college republikkkans; I said no. He got really upset and defensive over that one word. Before this, he was a good friend of mine--tonight will be interesting as we both need to be at the same place (edit: at the same time).:scared:

But the rest of starting sophomore year in college is going well.

Further edit: please describe this freeper e-mail and your response:)

26. And old friend and a guy
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 02:04 AM by robg
I worked long hours to create engineering marvels with sent me an email citing a Freeper thread and urging us to sign a petition to impeach Kerry. I responded that Kerry's stories were similar to those told by various (alas now departed) mutual friends who had fought in Vietnam. I speculated the Freepers would next go after guys like Zinni. I brought up the Plame incident and the recent "spy in the Pentagon" matter. I concluded I regarded the Bush administration as a national security disaster.

Don't be apologetic of being a Christian. Liberalism's complex origins include a political interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount. And don't forget who kicked ass in the Temple and evicted the money changers.

I have no specific religious affiliation, believing religion is mankind's attempt to wrap symbol around the transcendent in a necessary but futile attempt to understand it.

On edit: My son starts his sophomore year at Georgia Tech this year ... I wish you both success!

I brought up bu$h*'s greed

"Liberalism's complex origins include a political interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount. And don't forget who kicked ass in the Temple and evicted the money changers."

I brought this up and said I was not 100% sure bu$h* is a Christian and that the Bible warns against wolves in sheeps' clothing, to which HE responded that I AM EASILY DECEIVED.

I then told him that bu$h* deceived the entire country in re Iraqi WMDs and that in Feb 2003 I was pretty much the only one who saw that IRAQ POSED NO THREAT TO US. I also pointed out that in hindsight, I was correct and one of only a handful who WERE NOT DECEIVED.

At this point, he gave up on the conversation.

Edit: Most of my 'fundie' beliefs center around the Rapture/Final Judgement, and I am not 'ashamed' of these beliefs at all. Indeed, it would be quite interesting to watch bu$h*'s judgement--though mine would not be saintly either.

40. Good shot, bud
And truthful. Seems to me somewhere along the line a lot people were sold the line "greed is good". But ... isn't it one of the Seven Deadly Sins?

Sometime, we must discuss theology.

G'nite, Chair. Been busted by the wife person and she is sending me to bed. Since she is holding a rubber mallet over my head right now, I'd best comply ...

Bright blessings, friend.

6. fellow insomniac & I loathe the rituals of going to bed
turning all the lights off around the house, changing clothes, taking off make-up, taking out contacts, brushing teeth, etc.

Takes forever and I'm still wide awake. I'm chronically sleep-deprived.

I really loathe the process. Same thing about getting ready in the morning.

It's fairly recent for me, it's like I totally resist being forced into the same daily routines or something.

I am killing all my brain cells because I hate daily rituals - ha, ha.

that if Rummy can stand on his feet all day (and HOW OLD IS HE NOW????) to show how "manly" he is, versus the folks at Gitmo, the very least that I can do is go w/o sleep 24/7 to show him what a lame-ass he is.

It's 'patriotic', ya know.... ;-)
