Poll question: Favorite R.E.M. Album- The Warner Bros. Years.

I think the new one's gonna be great, too, especially if the new single is any indication.

Don't flame me, I'm searching for things to do that don't involve having to hear Arnold's speech.

2. Well, you missed that poll.
Although if you search the archives, you can find it.

Frankly, I got on the bus in 1983, and never got off. I love all the IRS albums-- will probably be listening to Murmur when I'm 90, if I'm not dead... But I think every album has something to recommend it. And I think Reveal was great, best stuff in a while.

5. I bought "Murmur" when it came out...
and it's still one of the 10 greatest records ever made...

But I guess "Automatic For The People" for the WB years..

3. Automatic for the People, duh
One of the best albums of the 90's, and sadly an album R.E.M. has never come close to touching again.

6. I agree that AFTP was the best
But I still think the others are worthwhile, as well.

Interestingly enough, as a long-term R.E.M. fan, I remember people grousing about how they had "sold out" when Fables was released. Lots of people jumped ship then. I think one of the things that makes them so great is, they've steadfastly refused to do the same thing twice..

My ranking on the post- IRS albums is, as follows:

AFTP
Reveal
Out of Time
Up
New Adv. In Hi-Fi
Monster

4. Which one was What's the Frequency Kenneth on?
I know either Monster or Automatic For the People. I've got em both. But I mostly listen to REM on MP3 now so I'm all mixed up

7. Color me shocked!!
I didn't know REM had been around long enough to be able to break their career up into eras.

9. Oh Yeah. 13th Album (not counting EPs, compilations, etc.) Coming in Oct.
I think they started playing as a band in 1980.

The old stuff is great, if you've never gotten into it. Murmur and Reckoning are an excellent place to start.
