Danny, my first born grandson left home today.
It seems like yesterday he was rolling around on the kitchen floor wrestling with Dr. Pushkin our German Shepherd. Sometimes Danny would nap with his little head using Dr. Pushkin for a pillow. Dr. Pushkin lay very still while his little human playmate napped.

As Danny grew older he started watercolor painting with Gram-ma. One day as they were painting away I said "Hey Danny paint grampa." So he did. Hee hee hee. He laughed as he smeared paint on me.

Often when he went back to his home he would take one of my winter hats with him. He was a hat collector. I think he still has them.

Just a few minutes ago he rushed into my room gave me a big hug and said. "Thanks for everything Grampa" Then he was gone. Off to college.

May your path through life be a sweet one Little Danny.

7. Yes I am an empty nester now!
It was hard but the adjustment was made, it isn't like we didn't see it coming for 18 years. He IM's me all the time so we actually talk daily. My other son I hear from only when I pester him to death, he always was a quiet one. Life is interesting and this was just one more step to get through. Thanks for remembering but we are really quite fine after a couple of weeks.

6. As one who just handed her sweet baby over to the first grade...
I don't have enough tissues for that story. I'll have to use my shirt tails. Thanks for sharing 180.
