Question: How often do you decide not to post if...
you know your post will just get you flamed?

I just found myself not posting on two different threads because I knew my opinion was considerably different from the other 30+ DUers who had already posted...Anyway, it made me just wonder how strong a "group-think" problem there might be here. Mods, please don't take this as a criticism of DU, I love the place and spend way too much time here. I'm just curious if others have noticed this.

1. Often
Not excessively, but I do find myself not posting often if I feel my opinion will not be accepted. At least once a day.

4. Shit, man, your opinions should be just as important
as anyone else's. in fact, a difference of opinion shows that we're not all the same, and that the differences should be appreciated by the others. IMHO

8. After reading the posts
I think that part of my problem is that I find it very frustrating to argue certain points of view here because it feels like no matter how much proof you provide, no matter how flawless your logic, you can't get people to change their minds. It's like admitting they could be wrong is genetically hard-wired out of them. :)

No flaming will occur.

And drink the koolaid.

6. Sometimes I have, but most times I offer it
and yeah, get flamed. Like in the "hate crimes" thread the other night...

There is at DU a "groupthink" mentality. Which I offer, as you did, not as a critique, but as a reality - any group that forms is going to get a "groupthink" thing going. it's the nature of stuff. Because, for the most part, we DO hold mostly similar ideas.

But we must always speak our truth. I hope that I am open enough to accept other people's truths without flaming them. I wish that others would accept that of me, and everyone else. Some people are rather sensitive and want all dems to have one position per issue. Ain't gonna happen.

Stir the damn pot once in a while.

MLK, Jr. did.

7. Not really. If I feel strongly enough about the subject...
if I care not so strongly... then I would find a way to temper the way I say something, but still try to get my point across. Mainly I don't care at all about flaming, if I'm expressing something I believe in.

Bring it on!

10. Just the opposite, actually
I decide not to post when I see others have already voiced my opinion. I usually post when I have a different view.
