It's been awhile since we've had the DU equivalent of a religious war....

So which do you prefer?

2. Windows, but only because
it runs the software I use. I prefer the OS to remain out of sight, in the background.. Windows does that well.

3. I could care less who's on what company's board.
He may be the rightful President, but he hasn't convinced Apple to lower the price.

I like OS X, but Apple over the last few years has really sunk to low levels with their translucent cases then said "Duh" as independent PC makers took things to the next level and beyond, of which Apple has recently tried to patent what they did (all-in-one units and lit-from-within cases. Been there, done that.)

Apple also charges $$$ per OS release. OS X 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 = broke. MS may be weak on product updates, but at least they don't cost as much!

Also, if I can build a PC for $800 that has more RAM and higher quality video, hard drive, and sound components than that $3000 Mac, the show's over. I'll live with Windows or Linux nitpicks over any of Macs.

But if Apple offered the consumer an INCENTIVE to upgrade (trade-in promotion, big rebates when buying new software, et al), I bet people WOULD switch. Where's Gore hyping this up? Or doesn't Apple have enough clout to even begin schmoozing with the big boys? (Heh, Adobe's been discontinuing some of their products off of the Mac for some time. Apple isn't doing something right, though Adobe overcharges for their software anyway, as does Microsoft and Macromedia...)

Besides, why pay all that much for new hardware when Linux is either free or $70 and the packaged distributions come with every conceivable application?

4. Windows, but only becuae all my office software comes that way!
My wife has a Mac, and it's a beauty -- but I don't get to play on it very often, though, as she's always using it for her work (graphic designer).
