I live in northwest Seminole County... About six or so miles from the Volusia line....

If I understand the forceast the winds will be around seventy five miles per hour...

I live in a cement block home....

I think I'll be ok....

3. I'm still here
From Deland. Looks like it's going south of me. I'll probable have 12 hours of tropical winds but then again the path can still change. It's going to suck being out of power again.
Good luck.

4. Tell me about it.
We didn't get our power back until Thursday morning. Boy was I crabby by then. Taking cold showers and having to dry my hair at work. Crappy McDonald's coffee in the am, and hot, humid, sleepless nights. I am not looking forward to that. At least I had access to the internet at work. That saved me.

2. Well,
I live in a condo in the Orlando/Winter Park area and the winds hit at around 80 mph with Charley. But the condo faces N/S and the winds came from the east so we survived relatively unscathed. The condos that face E/W had a lot of shingles ripped off the roofs and some wood off the sides of the two level units, but that was about it. Ooops, there was one skylight and a chimney that were ripped off. Overall, not too bad. But the arboreal devastation was incredible. We were lucky none of the trees fell on the roofs or cars. Some streets were blocked for days. Since you're in cement block your foundation should be okay. Don't know about the roof though. Watch out for flooding and be prepared to be without power for days. Stock up on PBJ & bread. Stay safe.

6. A beer sounds good to me.
Have you made a hotel reservation? I tried to get a room on Wednesday night after Charley and couldn't find a thing. I do know that the hotels on International Drive didn't lose power during Charley. You might check them out.

7. I Got A Room At The Embassy Suites In Buena Vista Village...
I own my own little business so I haven't been on a real vacation in a couple of years but I wasn't thinking about vacationing thirty miles from my home in a hurricane.

10. Interesting
Well, I own a small graphic design firm, but guess what, I'm also a partner in a small publishing company. We currently have one book published in a series of children's books that we're working on (long story). What do you publish?

11. Sounds good to me.
I just moved down here from NJ for a job and to get away from the winter weather. What the hell was I thinking?

15. Mechanical engineer
I develop medical devices. I was laid off in February and decided to look for work in Florida since most of my family is here. I hated it at first but now I'm starting to really like it. An added benefit is I get to vote for Kerry in November!

17. Do you work in Orlando?
I've been meeting with a medical outfitter there about designing some promotional pieces for them.

19. Hmmm
Is the building pre-fab? The current path looks like it's going to cut south of Orlando and head to the Gulf. Still, nasty nasty winds coming our way. Are you all set?

14. I know,
But it won't be here until Saturday and I feel really good about being able to score a good lantern, batteries, water and wine tonight. I've been keeping my eye on NOAA and the weather channel is on so I'm keeping tabs. I also have a full tank of gas so I can bail if necessary. But thanks for your concern.
