help! have terrible hiccups
ITS BUSH's fault seriously though I've had them for over an hour....any suggestions??????

1. Deep breath and hold...
... until you can't hold any longer, exhale and another deep breath and hold, until they're gone. Relieves pressure on the vagus nerve. Always works for me. May take several times.

5. was doing the breath thing
when i read your post, seems ok for now but i will keep the sugar thing in mind as I am quite sure the repugs will upset me again between now and Nov 2

6. Take a heaping teaspoon of white granulated sugar,. . ..
. . .AND SWALLOW IT without getting it wet with saliva. I don't understand how this works but it does every time for me. It's some kind of physiological phenomenon having to do with irritating the esophagus.

10. Drink a glass of water upside down
Bend over and drink from the glass, taking tiny sips. Drink the entire glass. This has always worked for me. Good luck, I know that this is not only annoying, but torture.:-(

11. Water upside down. Works every time. It's a heck of a lot easier
if you have a bottle of water rather than a glass. If you have a glass, you'll probably end up wearing most of the water. ;)

I had the hiccups so bad one night and I was on a message board at the time and I did the same thing, I asked the board. They said 'upside down water' and son of a gun, it worked.
