Who can stand up to the Ron Silver Juggernaut?

This is a man who unified the nation with his brave portrayal of the bad guy in "Timecop."

On the heels of his powerhouse performance as the Psycho Who Won't Stay Down in Jamie Lee Curtis' "Blue Steel."

One can hardly turn on Cinemax (between the hours of 2-4am) without seeing the Silver magic at work, whether it's as the bad guy (the range on this guy!) in an Antonio Sabato, Jr. straight-to-video, or as the charisma-free half of a love story with, oh, let's say Lori Singer.

And some bad Seventies sitcoms that all blur together.

Ron Silver, a force to be reckoned with, an actor of, dare I say, Fred Grandyian proportion.

I liked Ron Silver in The Arrival, one of the best underrated science fiction flicks of the 90s. But he must've been hit on the head good and hard between then and now. I watched a few minutes of him ranting about the importance of *Bush's moral clarity last night and jut shook my head.

9. I have to admit, he was great in "Reversal of Fortunes"

Although I'm sure Alan Dershowitz is having a coronary knowing that Ron Silver portrayed him in the movie!

He also was pretty good as Mohammad Ali's trainer Angelo Dundee in the movie "Ali" You think he would have learned something about the nature of Vietnam and why it was a racist war from being in that movie and learning about someone legendary like Mohammad Ali.

But Alan might not be too upset with Ron. Remember: Alan now supports the use of torture under certain circumstances and said that there's nothing in the Constitution preventing torture from being used.

Ron and Alan are probably closer in opinion than we might know.

Ron Silver taught Spanish for several years in the 1960s at the Roosevelt High School, a Jewish boarding school in Connecticut. Because of his knowledge of Chinese, he got a job with the US Government and travelled to Taiwan in the early 1970s.

Early 70's? Worked for Nixon - nuff said!!!
