Help a computer geek flee the snow and cold

Thanks to everyone in my previous thread 'Help a computer geek fix their toilet.' Your advice was much appreciated.

Now...

I have decided that I just can't remain in upstate NY this winter. Aside from the whole seasonal affective depression thing, I'm really tired of upstate and need a big change.

What I'd like to do is rent a house or larger condo/apartment with a buddy somewhere south of D.C. for January through March. We can't afford too much, say $800 per month tops. Somewhere on the beach or in close proximity to is preferred.

Just seeking general advice here, but if you have some specific recommendations they're very much welcome. First three people who give me really good information get a gmail invite. :-)

It doesn't have to be a traditional resport area like Myrtle Beach though.
