1. don't kill them!
Take a tissue and gently put them outdoors. They are superb at trapping annoying insects.

9. That's my rationale
I tell myself that I have a moral right to control my own personal space. But once I go out the door, the rules change.

8. Spray them with Raid every chance I get
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 02:04 AM by DRoseDARs
I absolutely hate most spiders. Wolf spiders, daddy longlegs, taranchulas I can stand, but everything else dies horribly if I find it in the house.

Slow, painful death by nerve-gassing

Edit: Had to paint myself as more evil and uncaring than originally posted :)

then I remind them (and myself) that I had already warned them to be gone from my house.

and sending them to a watery grave. I honor their right to live outside, but my space is mine.

12. I never kill spiders
I just think that everything has a purpose, and a spider's purpose is to kill insects. I'm ok with that.

14. I generally don't kill them, if I can help it.
If I see one first, I'll try to 'shoo it' away, but if one surprises me, it's "Taps" for the arachnid in question, normally.

15. nope
The spiders round here are mostly small and harmless so we pretty much leave each other alone, but I get centipedes, big speedy brown ones so huge that their legs look furry and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyew they must die. Die die die.

Tip: when they are out of reach up the wall or on the ceiling, I use a Grabbit mop to smush them. The Grabbit cloth becomes their burial shroud. Kinda wasteful, but man. Too many legs to touch. :scared:

18. We have those nasty house centipedes, too
Ugly nasty things. Those are always dispatched (unless they run away too quickly, in which case I deal with them later.)

17. Not at all. Definitely an inside/outside issue
In the house, all bugs are toast

Besides, there's lots of space out side to live. And I do mean live.

We have seen black widows outside in our shoes. Sorry, guys--if you stay outside and out of my sight you live. Otherwise---my home needs to be safe.

21. The way I figure, if a person's been reincarnated as a spider...
...I'm doing them a favor by prematurely ending their lifecycle so they can move on and reincarnate as something else.

22. We say, "Sorry, but...
"...you're in the wrong place at the wrong time." Now, we do let some alone, like the one in the under-construction addition who has a nice web full of dead mosquitos.

My wife is really scared of those things we call "cave-crickets" (man, the south has strange bugs!) a.k.a. "hump-back crickets". But she's not scared of bees.

My phobia: hornets and wasps. Especially those huge ones that look like they're two inches in length! Yaaaahhh, out of my way!

It's the only type of creepy crawlie that I'll make a point to relocate instead of squishing them.

27. I feel bad about killing anything
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 07:26 PM by nu_duer
yes, I do feel guilty for killing baby spiders or any spiders.

The longer I live, the more I realize that all life is miraculous. I try hard not to "KILL" anything, but I will admit, I have, and do, kill spiders.

If its at all possible, I'll throw a plastic cup over the spider, and then try to slip some piece of cardboard under him, and then take him outside and let him loose. I will go to a great extent to do this for beetles and moths, especially, but I really try to find a way to avoid killing the creature.

If that's not possible, for whatever reason, I'll try to make his death as quick and painless as possible. And as I flush him, I ask for forgiveness. Something on this earth has stopped living, because of me.

So, when I kill a spider or the odd insect that has found its way into my domain, I do so reluctantly, and I do feel guilty.
