Little Debbie oatmeal creme pies (made by McKee Foods Corp. of Collegedale, Tenn.) are staples in the office of the Senate's majority leader, Republican Bill Frist of Tennessee.

Not surprisingly in Washington, candy sparks political competition. Talent wanted Russell Stover chocolate because he considered Hershey to have smaller portions that were not as good.
"He's got to say that; he's from Missouri," Santorum said in an interview. "What's he going to say, that Pennsylvania products are better than Missouri products? The bottom line is, America has judged what the best candy is. All you've got to do is look at the sales of those candies."
Pennsylvania is the No. 1 chocolate manufacturing state in the nation, and Santorum takes pride in offering the widest variety of candy of any Senate office. He stocks a candy drawer on the Senate floor for GOP colleagues.
