What's the over-under on what day the 50,000th DUer shows up?

When I joined in January of 2003, there were 20,000. We need to send Dubya a big thank you note!:)

2. Could be; the mods can handle 'em though

and a lot of new registrants aren't freepers. All are welcome until/unless they disrupt.

3. Don't hate on the newbies

Everyone at one point during their DU career had a low post count and all of us here gave them a chance.

Now, it's our turn to do the same thing.

Unless, they make a statement that is obviously right-wing we need to accept them into our little family.

4. I agree

Most of the new registrants that I've seen seem like they belong here and would enjoy it here. Unfortunately, I've also seen a couple of really blatant exceptions.

When I had about 700 posts, DU went through a really bad phase of paranoia--almost as bad as it is now. I got so freaked out that I actually posted something in the lounge to the effect of "Do I really belong here, or am I a disruptor?" (I was nervous because there are a couple of issues that I do not agree with the Dems on, and I had been flamed a couple of times.) I would like to think I checked out OK.:)

Don't take it too hard on the newbies, OK?
