I got my face burnt to hell today for Kerry - Ask me something!
Participated in my first walk for Kerry this morning as part of the Grijalva volunteer. For those unfamiliar with these, essentially we walk around neighborhoods and go to people's houses who are registered as Democrats or Independents but never Republicans or Libertarians.

Our mission is to get Democrats to the polls, as here in Pima County especially there are more registered Democrats than Republicans, and this is how we're gonna win Az; by getting every last registered Democrat out there, or by registering more Democrats by asking if anyone else currently living in the household that is able to register is registered.

It was alot of fun and not a experience I'll definitely be doing this every Saturday all the way to election time! you hand out literature on Kerry and Grijalva (who is a shoe in) and I'd say of the 40 or so homes I visited about two of them had people that had now turned voting age and needed to register.

Now the bad news: like an idiot I forgot to throw on sunscreen because it rained like crazy (eventually stopped) I figured the sun would never come out so I neglected to put on sunscreen.

Good one dopey, my face got burnt, but that's okay! my face will heal in a few days, if Bush gets elected this country may never heal for a hundred years!

4. Always, always, always
...when you're outdoors for a while, wear a good sun-blocking hat with a nice wide brim ALL AROUND, not just in front like yer typical baseball cap. I know waay too many people who've had cancerous stuff removed from their neck or ears in the last few years. And with ozone depletion UV rays are only going to get stronger every year.

And this is especially necessary if you're a bald guy like me or have shaved your hair very short -- scalp sunburns are painful & there's nothing uglier than the scalp of an old guy who spent too much time in the sun.

I love my big ol' Tilley hat

5. In Arizona, you can NEVER take cloudiness for granted
I should know, because I used to live in Prescott, Mesa, and Chandler. Fortunately, my skin doesn't react very much to sun at all, but I am a rare case.

But to me, the suffering would be worth it to help Kerry out.:)
