E-mail from my friend who has breast cancer

Some time in the last few weeks, I posted to the Lounge about my friend Diane, who is 56 years old and lives about three hours from me in New York City. Diane recently advised me that has advanced breast cancer. I offered to drive down to NYC this weekend to pay her a visit and got the following reply:

<<Hi Dean, tried to call you a couple of times but you weren't home. I'm sorry but I'm just so fuckin sick I can't hardly get out of bed this weekend. I can't walk, I can't swallow, I can barely talk. I am really touched that you wanted to come and see me. Bruce has suggested that when I am feeling better maybe we could drive up and visit you one time. Would that be okay? Love Diane>>

The Diane I know is vibrant, energetic, and full of the proverbial piss and vinegar. I honestly can't picture her being as weak and sickly as she describes above. And it breaks my heart to try. :cry:

Christ, I hope Diane's doctors can make her better! She's a good person who doesn't deserve to live like that.

I pray that your friend will be alright . This reminded me how minimal my problems are ... Sending your friend some Karma prayers to good health and strength . Continue being a great friend to her :)

2. I'm so sorry...

I've been where you are now. All you can do is try to be there as much as possible, enjoy her company as much as you can, and most important of all, let her know you think the world of her.

I am a 12 year survivor and 1/2 the Race are men...I'm sure your friend would appreciate and you'll feel better doing something proactive.
