Interesting Rolling Stone offer....
$99 for a lifetime subscription. Yeah, 'til you die. I might have to try that one out. They had an ad for it in the new magazine.

5. I've subscribed for fifteen years now.
when it runs out in '06, I'm gonna go "lifetime".

I love RS. In fact I've been a Kerry fan since they did a short interview on him almost two years ago.

Here's this month's story on the "Cheney Curse":
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story?id=6450422

Should George W. Bush win this election, it will give him the distinction of being the first occupant of the White House to have survived naming Dick Cheney to a post in his administration. The Cheney jinx first manifested itself at the presidential level back in 1969, when Richard Nixon appointed him to his first job in the executive branch. It surfaced again in 1975, when Gerald Ford made Cheney his chief of staff and then -- with Cheney's help -- lost the 1976 election. George H.W. Bush, having named Cheney secretary of defense, was defeated for re-election in 1992. The ever-canny Ronald Reagan was the only Republican president since Eisenhower who managed to serve two full terms. He is also the only one not to have appointed Dick Cheney to office.

6. Hope it's not a sign...
of them going under. Usually things like this are done out of desperation....

7. I've been a subscriber since 1984.
And I finally decided to let my subscription just die a slow death. All those magazines piling up, and I rarely recognize the band on the cover anymore.

Now, this. What a bunch of crap.

8. Implicit in any such "lifetime" offer

is that it's a two way street. Your life or THEIR life. So, yes,
maybe they DO know something.

9. well
the good part is that a refund is pro-ratable (?) for the first two years. At 4 bucks a pop at the newsstand, if they last two years, I get my money's worth - of course, that would be if I bought it regularly, but I don't.

I'm considering it. I like it well enough, and it's hard to beat the deal.

10. Ick
As a woman, I'd rather subscribe to Playboy than RS.

Playboy: offers consistently good journalism and interviews with fascinating people, and always has cover pics of women, who are known for no particular talents, in various states of undress for the purpose of being ogled, without pretending otherwise.

Rolling Stone: sometimes offers an important article, treats inarticulate 22 year olds like gods, and the only way a woman well-known for her talents can get on the cover without stripping down to her skivvies, or less, is if she's gay.
