1. The Soviet anthem was kick-ass.

Every Olympics, I find myself a bit nostalgic for it... they were always kicking our ass at everything, so you got to hear it a lot, which made it more powerful, and, dare I say, scary.

My Cold War nostalgia shocks me sometimes. Guess it's just something I'm going to have to learn to live with.

I agree though, as far as National Anthums go, that one ranks in the top of the list. I also dig a lost of the Russian "folk/protest" music that was suppressed under the old gov't. I don't speak Russian, but you don't need to to get teh emotion behind it.
