As of today I have lost 64 pounds. on-line weight watchers
At first I was hungry but then i learned how to manipulate the plan and I really don't pay much attention to it anymore. I have WW cake every night and I really don't get very hungry. I really don't eat very many carbs though, because when I do I seem to get hungry.

5. Well done! How long did it take you?
AFAIK, carbs make you hungry (simple carbs, at least) because it only takes the body about half an hour to break them down.

16. An excellent pace!
I'm at 13.8 lost in 7 weeks. I hope I can keep it slow. And OFF! And I hope you can, too. You rock.

7. Excellent!
I like hearing others' success stories. I tried being a loser this summer but stalled out at a 15-pound loss, which is still impressive.

9. are you balancing it with activity?
At some point you will need to regain a normal diet, in terms of carb balance and caloric intake.

A long endurance- low load activity like cycling or hiking is ideal for that, as it allows you to keep your metabolic level higher, and strengthens your heart at the same time. It also is not hard on the knees like running.

I maintain pretty well, despite the diabetic meds, with only about 45-70 miles a week, on average. An hour and a half every other day would be a great start. Don't worry about speed, or milage, just time spinning the pedals, and fun had per hour need to be measured.

Give it a thought.

11. yes, i walk about 20 minutes a day. I have a bad disc in my back
and the doctor recomends walking. Right now I am working full time and studying for my doctoral prelims which are at the end of the month so I am really pressed for time, but when the test are over I'll be able to walk more

14. Excellent. Good for you. Good luck on both the weight loss and the
prelims.

I think the exercise is good for you both because it's just plain good for your body (we were meant to walk, run, throw spears at wooly mastodons etc. not sit in front of a computer DU'ing or playing DOOM until 3 AM LOL) but also because when you are engaged in a difficult endeavor like losing weight, the work involved in exercise, and the ritual, gives you a sort of emotional investment in the process that is different from when you just deny yourself food.

It gives you more will power to eat right, and when done regularly it actually makes you less hungry for whatever reason.
