Are there any liberal/progressive pro-wrestlers?
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 06:35 PM by CarlW
I have always been a huge follower of pro-wrestling, but I've noticed that most wrestlers who have discussed their politics tend to be conservatives. John Bradshaw Layfield is a very outspoken Republican in real life and in his on-screen role. Val Venis is sort of a libertarian conservative. Ultimate Warrior is the worst one..he is an extreme social conservative and would make a Freeper look like a liberal! Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler have made some very anti-Democratic comments throughout the years.

Are there any left-of-center pro-wrestlers? I know that during the 2000 elections, they had wrestlers mention what issues were important to them. Tazz mentioned fighting discrimination, and Terri Runnels mentioned voting for choice, so there could be at least a couple of them. When they had the gay wedding angle on Smackdown, Tazz also said some progressive things in support of the wedding. I think Bill Goldberg is involved is some animal rights issues. Are there any wrestlers that are known Democrats or liberals?

1. Considering that professional wrestlers
Are a bunch of 'roided up macho men, I'd dare say the majority of them are wingnuts.

4. Foley seems pretty pro-Kerry in interviews
And I read The Rock's book. He's not political, but he doesn't seem Conservative.

5. That would be great!!
Mick Foley is probably my favorite wrestler. I know he was at the Democratic Convention, but I wasn't sure if that was a bipartisan thing or not. If he's supporting Kerry, I hope he becomes very outspoken about it. He could influence a lot of the younger voters.

I bet Kane is a big ole' flaming liberal.

I hope gail kim and molly holly are dems because they are my favorite women 'rasslers

I bet Eugene's a democrat, which is why everyone is so mean to him.

8. Goldberg, Hogan and The Big Show
I'll bet the 3 of these folks are.

Goldberg is a champion of underdogs, and a seeming bleeding heart.

Hogan. I've spoken with him a few times (he lives in my county) and he's actually a pretty soft-spoken guy. He seems to actually be kind of into justice and the right thing to do.

The Big Show. He works out at my gym. He's polite and soft-spoken as well, and seems to think quite a bit about what he's doing. Certainly not Freeperisms that I've seen.

I'll also tell you, lots of the pros don't live like you might think. There were days in Clearwater, Florida, that you could watch Dusty Rhodes, Barry Windham, Flair and others playing basketball together in their nice, middle class neighborhood.

Besides, Bush is anti-steroids, except for his buddy Ah-nold...
