Hurricanes do not produce lightning. So the Tampabay area, normally second only to Ramada for the number of lighting strikes, has not had a strike all weekend.

We are in the backlash now. The storm center has moved offshore into the Gulf and is picking up the 87 degree water and spinning it back into the bay. Some heavy rains and wind gusts, but not as bad as the "normal" afternoon boomer. Just the effect of continuous varied intensity, that is uprooting trees from saturated ground.

Frances, being so big, didn't carry the intensity it could have. But still it has damaged the entire State. They are estimating 5 mil to be without power
