Seriously, people who can't give a rats ass about how the nation is run are worst than people politically opposite of myself. Their indifference and complacency is appalling!

1. no kidding!
They drive me nuts! They could care less. They see the world outside their front door as non-critical. I just want to slap some sense into them.

3. Check.
People who don't pay attention - either because they don't care or because they think that their vote doesn't matter - make me SOOOOO angry.

If I hear one more person say "Both parties are basically the same" I think I will croak! I guess if you don't care about individual freedom, the rights of working people, the tax burden on workers vs. the leisure class, war for no fucking reason, giving away public lands to the oil gas and coal industries, destruction of the environment, and the continuing division of the country into (1) a small privileged wealthy elite that has all the political and economic power, (2) a middle class that pays all the taxes and has its fears manipulated to keep the ruling class in power, and (3) about 50 million (and growing) hopelessly poor uneducated serfs - then, hell yes, both parties are the same. If you care about any of those things and vote Republican, well then I guess it's true that every nation gets the government it deserves.....

4. I agree, nothing irritates me more than people who say
"I'm just not political." They fail to see that the political IS personal and greatly affects their daily lives.

When they start whining about their job being sent overseas and thier lack of health care or the decaying infrastructure, I can't help but throw their "I'm not political" back in their faces.

6. Don't be so judgemental
It's not that apolitical people don't give a rats ass.

Ignorance is bliss. I wish I could try it some day, it might alleviate a lot of my suffering.

7. It's rampant here amongst the Anglos
Every single Anglo I know in Cancun is politically apathetic-- it's something that, while I've not quite gotten used to it, I've at least learned how to deal with it.

On the other hand, the vast international community here responds really well to political discussions. Canadians, Germans, Argentines, one gal from Belgium and, of course the Nationals here love to analyze American politics (and, to a person, think Bush* is the worst/most comic thing to hit America since Harding...)
