I just cooked the best burger
Taken from Alton Brown.

Take 1 lb ground beef. Add 1/2 tablespoon of Kosher salt, mix in.

Make three patties.

Heat a cast-iron skillet on medium heat for 2 minutes.

Place burger on skillet, cooking four minutes each side. Only flip once. No pressing.

Take off burger.

Toast bun a bit on skillet.

Take bun off. Put mayonaisse on bottom part of bun, as well as freshly ground black pepper.

Put burger on bun. Eat. Nothing else....

MMMMM! Fantastic. So good. Going to do over, this time adding tomato & onion.

1. Ahhh
I was just about to say, 'sounds like Alton Brown' and reread the top part.

Have you tried using the food processor to grind your own burger yet? Grinding your own makes a world of difference too.

mmmmmmmm.....

Is it worth it to get one, burgers aside? I don't really bake much..

9. Oh, I don't know
I don't own one either. :D

But I do own a little hand grinder. I'll get chuck roasts on sale and grind four or five up and throw them in the freezer. It it tons better than store ground burger, especially if they use the preground stuff and don't grind their own. No one but the packing plant knows what goes into the pre-ground stuff. :puke:

2. Alton Brown is my hero!
Even if I didn't have a Massive Celebrity Crushâ„¢ on him, I'd still like his recipes. He taught me how to make a steak, concoct a pizza crust, hull a strawberry (use a pastry tip), make mayonaisse...

Last night's topic was sausage. I was engrossed for an entire half-hour.

16. Alton was right, the mayo brings out the flavor
of the burger instead of covering it up like mustard, etc. I was skeptical too, until I tried it. A simple burger like his is amazing.

12. I'll Go You One Better
Sautée some onions in butter before you cook the burgers, then grill the buns in the now freshly onion-flavored butter.
