Not so much to change his politics - he's a moderate Repug. Also, I'm sure he missed the latest episode of 'NOW' with Bill Moyers which did a segment on how the far-right of the Repug party is trying to oust the moderates. Pretty frightening if you ask me - you'd think it would bother him.

He went off on me the other day claiming that I was mentally ill, etc. Which is ironic, since accusing someone of being mentally ill seems to be the latest right-wing talking point. To make a long story short he turned my dislike for the Bush Crime Family into attacks against me personally - it was very upsetting. I may not agree with my parents politics but I never attack them personally for it. I could just come out and call them a bunch of nouveau riche, racist, classicist assholes (which they are) but I don't!

During our spat he mentioned how awful the Kennedy's are, which got me to thinking. Were/are the Kennedy's that awful? After learning as much as I know about the Bush Crime Family - I can state with confidence that the Kennedy's are nowhere near as bad as they are - not by a long shot!

So in retaliation I bought him 'American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House' by Kevin Phillips. Mostly because Phillips is a Republican (I spell that word correctly for the sane ones) and he dislikes the Bush Crime Family as much as I do - perhaps even more! So now, my step-dad won't be able to pull that "this is a bunch of liberal lies!" crap. Hopefully, he'll read it.

Had he not attacked me personally I would have let it fly but he got real ugly there with the personal insults and it really ticked me off.
Thanks for listening.

1. Just because it's in a book dosen't mean he will believe it....
My mom wouldn't.She would say it was dirty gossip and lies.
My mom is a conservative and she disregards anything liberals or Dems say about Bush. That's why i think hoping the Kitty Kelly book will hurt Bush is a pipe dream.People will buy it and forget about it because there is no proof. It's gossip and Kelly is known for writing gossip books.
