...Having lived in Orlando FL since December, 1971, I have experienced many severe weather systems, but nothing like what we just experienced with Hurricane Charlie three weeks ago and then Frances this past weekend. We are keeping a careful watch as Hurricane Ivan moves along less than 24 hours after the tail end of Frances left its tracks across middle Florida. This historical data is scary looking. For some reason fate has spared me, my dog, my family and my home from serious injury or damage. However, I have neighbors, friends and acquaintances who were not as fortunate and in whatever ways I've tried to be available where I could. During both storms I never lost electrical power, not even from brief interruptions, so I baked cupcakes and had hot meals to share. Friends and family were able to come and cool off from the draining heat and take showers to get refreshed. I shared what I was spared. I was tempted to discuss my political convictions, but I controlled my urges and focused on the tasks that needed the greatest attention. There will be time enough to share my views when this season of storms settles down and life gets back to normal. I certainly won't refuse anyones prayers. Thanks for being here DU.
