Windows XP Service Pack 2. I'm downloading it now.
And have been for the past 50 minutes! And I have High Speed Internet too.

Is it really worth the wait?

1. Nope.
You'd be better off spending your time shopping for a new Macintosh.

2. Linux costs less and he wouldn't have to purchase new software either
(in most cases anyway, Linux titles are just as good.)

13. Solitaire, and a tiny library of nearly a thousand games...

Plus nearly anything that you can play on Linux...

17. I am constant as the northern star...
I could be well moved, if I were as you:
If I could pray to move, prayers would move me:
But I am constant as the northern star,
Of whose true-fix'd and resting quality
There is no fellow in the firmament.
The skies are painted with unnumber'd sparks,
They are all fire and every one doth shine,
But there's but one in all doth hold his place:
So in the world; 'tis furnish'd well with men,
And men are flesh and blood, and apprehensive;
Yet in the number I do know but one
That unassailable holds on his rank,
Unshaked of motion: and that I am he,
Let me a little show it, even in this;
That I was constant Cimber should be banish'd,
And constant do remain to keep him so.

3. Depends - if you already run personal firewall software & have
older software programs it's probably NOT worth it right now. A lot of security bugs have been fixed in it but I've found my norton firewall keeps the pc safe.
There've been lots of reports of older software & device drivers needing patches after service pack 2 is installed (like printer drivers, etc).

Also, MAKE SURE TO RUN A SPYWARE PACKAGE (adaware is available for free on download.com) BEFORE INSTALLING SP2

4. It took several hours here...
But the good news is, I can opt to use my Norton Firewall instead of MS's. :bounce:

My 'puter was kind of screwed up after downloading "Service Pack 1".

5. I run a shop of 8 Windows servers, 1 Linux server, 40 workstations
running Windows, and a lot of financial software, 3 layers of virus protection, 3 layers of firewall protection.

XP SP 2 was worth it for us, and headaches have been minimal.

6. i asked about this a couple days ago
i am still trying to decide.
one thing that bothers me, i can't download it into a file and open it later. they want to cram it up your ass while you are online
another-having to call the guardians of this machine and wait on hold behind every other sad sack who could not wait to download SP2 and now is having trouble
another-i don't have the gumption right now to figure out which files i need to back up first
another-i don't use IE
still more-i wanna wait for them to fix some shit in SP2 that they felt wasn't necessary to fix or couldn't find to fix before they released it.

i'm waiting

9. well
You could order a CD instead. Is it worth it? For an Athlon64 yes, for all others: probably.

10. Service Pack 2
Most people (Myself Included) Installing SP2 are not having any Issues with It.

Most of the Issues that some people are having with It are minor, and a few people are having major Issues.

No software Is perfect, they are all flawed to some degree.

It's a beast and there is a slight learning curve. Is it worth it? I am not sure.
