hail the Bohemian Grove!
faux-mystic-pomp dumbassery for rich SOBs and good-ol'-boy deals to enslave whatever sector of Earth. But the Sainted Skeptics say I'd be a paranoid schizophrenic to even think that (yes, the ones who wet themselves in excitement whenever an Ouija Board makes a grammatical error, but that's another story that will be told another day).

1. faux-mystic is a bit redundant
but then, ouija boards would, i imagine, make exactly those grammatical errors their users don't know their making.

11. absolutely right.

for the record, that one qualifies as a typo.
very happy you're around to call it out, though. in case i accidentally type "lie" someday when i mean "lay" or "it's" when i mean "its," "impact" when i mean "affect," "affect" when i mean "effect" or "effect" when i mean "mood." that sort of thing.

just sayin'

2. didn't they close the pink elephant
a couple of months ago? can't drink in front of barlets anymore and the knotty room burned down back in the 70's guess I'll just hang out on the old redwood highway with all the other hippies and hookers.

ps off season you can easily walk into the grove through the back road, just take a left then an quick right two blocks south from the monte rio bridge. watch out for the dogs and wild boars.

4. Read Jon Ronson's

"Them: Adventures With Extremists" and watch the video that goes along with it. You'll come away with a...milder view of the Grove.

Check this out:

http://www.salon.com/people/conv/2002/03/14/ronson/

It's mostly about men pissing when and where they want in the forest, getting drunk away from the press, and putting on faux play/rituals. I'm not saying that plans that fuck the rest of us over aren't done there, but it's definitely not a Satanic gathering like a lot of conspiracy theorists think. Ronson actually got inside. The Gathering has more in common with a drunken frat party than anything else.

Oh, and see the film "Teddy Bear's Picnic" by Harry Shearer, who actually attended a gathering. It's freeping funny! Super Dave also plays a character thats modeled off of W.

Of course, the farther out conspiracy buffs will discount my statements since I'm a Mason and "one of them" ;-)

7. oh, I'm not worried about Satanism
fact is, I'd be a Mason if I weren't so darn lazy!
I just mean the good-ol'-boyism is at higher levels, mixed with good-ol'-boy frat antics.

6. The Grove...such a long, sad commentary on our supposedly
stellar, capitalist elite. They have come to such an unfortunate pass. Now, who do you think will, or has already, co-opted these guys?

9. Isn't it just "Burning Man" for wealthy, elitist males?
Just like the masons or skull/bones-a bunch of men who take themselves way too seriously. Sororities are the same for women-I know, I was in one once upon a time.
