Good places to eat in DC?
What are some good places for -- breakfast -- lunch -- dinner -- in the DC area?

1. If you like Italian cuisine, Ristorante Filomena in Georgetown.
Pricey, but well-worth it.

2. The best places are listed in the washingtonian
http://www.washingtonian.com/

I always use the cheap eats list for planning dates and going out with friends.

Most of the places don't serve breakfast though.

6. If you like steak........
When I was working in Washington DC, and still single, I would take dinner dates to Blackie's House of Beef, 1217 22nd St, NW
202-333-1100.

This incredible steak, chop and chicken house is a favorite of high power Washington. They have, if I remember correctly, 9 separate dining rooms, each featuring a bar from an old west saloon, restored and in use. The food was always excellent. They serve lunch and dinner and late night.

If the quality is as good now as it was in the mid-60's, you cant go wrong.

God, I sound like a commercial!!!!!!

8. DC Is Huge for Ethnic Restaurants
it all depends on what you like and where you're staying. If you want something that's difficult to get elsewhere, like Russian, you can probably find it somewhere in the DC area (eg, the Serbian Crown).

One place that's absolutely worth visiting is Marrakesh, a Morrocan place on about 6th and New York NW. It's a whole experience with mulitple courses and entertainment, and not even as expensive many other places downtown.

There are a lot of Indian restaurants around, some of which cater to immigrants and have more authentic spices. The ones I go to (Tiffin and Bombay Bistro) are in the Maryland suburbs, but I like Bombay Palace on 20th and K St NW downtown.

There's a big Ethiopian restaurant section in Adams Morgan (16th and Columbia NW) It's interesting, delicious, and inexpensive. The oldest is The Red Sea, although a lot of the others are good, too.

For a place with spectacular decor and an interesting menu, try The Red Sage (around 12th and F St NW?). It's kind of neo-Southwest with an amazing interior.
