Best movie soundtrack from a rock group?
To me, the obvious choice:

Queen, "Flash Gordon."

4. "Highlander" was better.
Then again... QUEEN???

Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine did some amazing work in "Lost in Translation." Without his music and Scarlett Johansson's ass, that movie woulda sucked.

I liked the soundtrack to Dead Man...whenever I hear it I think back to the movie which I found excellent but somewhat disturbing...

(on edit: changed "liked" to "like")

6. Hmm define "rock group" (m)
do Simon and Garfunkle count?

I suppose a concert movie wouldn't count - if it did I'd say Ziggy Stardust.

but I don't remember the score/soundtrack at all. I do love the first Dire Straits album though, wore it out when I was in 8th grade.

33. While Queens "Flash"
was the first thing to pop into my head, it's The Wall hands down. Like all other Floyd albums it still resonates today. Since Dark Side Of The Moon not a generation has gone by that didn't have a huge Pink Floyd following. The Wall is now in production for a Broadway play.

23. Yes on More
The Nile Song, Cirrus Minor, Ibizar Bar are bonafide Pink Floyd classic songs...
And one must not overlook the soundtrack to "Zabriskie Point"...from Pink Floyd (I love "The Crumbling Wall", also for Heartbeat, Pigmeat" and "Come In Number 54 Your Time Is Up"!) to Patti Page...that soundtrack lp is also a classic!
