It does go by quick, god I remember faces from 7th grade gone now, heck it flies by so much quicker that is 7-12 and K-6, these were some interesting times, though sigh still so damn shy but I kicked ass today.

At first I thought that graduating in 03 was going to suck because it's not 99 or 2000 or something cool, but you'll notice that if you do the "ok" sign with your left hand, it is an "03" as may be seen in this senior year photo of me:



the 03 sign became a rallying cry of pride for my HS generation!!

note: my shirt says "I HATE COLLEGE APPS"

Good ol' trust-busting Ted Roosevelt was President of all 46 states and W.E.B. DuBois started an organization known later as the NAACP... I guess we kinda needed it because although there only 96 auto fatalities, there were 115 lynchings.

Dear old dad was a pretty average guy making $12.50 for a 59 hour week (a lot better than the Poles and Slovaks he worked with in the slaughter house making only half as much...) and Mom made $325 a year teaching high school.

Mom wore a high, straight-front corset with long hips making the waist as small as possible, but the skirt grew shorter that year accommodate stepping onto the new automobiles and trolley (but she was a bit of strumpet-- but not as bad as the lady who got arrested in Chicago that year for smoking a cigarette!)

Barber shop quartets were all the rage singing grand tunes like, Dear Adeline, In My Merry Oldsmobile and Bill Bailey Won't You Please Come Home (...ribbit...). Dad bought a Model-T Ford that spring for $650 and that was the first year that posted speed limits appeared (20MPH maximum-- anywhere)

Those were my sisters, but they both died early. Not surprising because the average life expectancy was only 47 for women and 46 for guys!
