Dear Friends, Hurricane Frances...
was not so very nice, she took down my screen-room, many shingles off the roof, it looks bad and wiped out alot of the landscaping but those things can be replaced. But I'm thinking twice not to do the screen room again maybe a gazebo later to screen from the mosquito's.

My pet family survived, all the way to Mt. Zion, Ga., it's where my bank was, the places around here closed much too soon for people to get some funds and that is something to be upset with. I heard one man trying to saw off a ATM, out frustration or stealing I'm not sure.

I want to thank the Good People of Georgia who were so helpful to us,I really loved the area and the drier air with surrounding hills.
The Sleep Inn was allowing pets due to the circumstances and I was thankful for that being Frances was such a slow mover. We got a touch of her outer bands on the way back down the east coast.

I still have no power, the heat has been unbearable.Just got the cable yesterday and with a portable generator I turn the computer on to let you all know I'm OK and we are now waiting for FPL to turn on the electric. Now with Ivan not too far away they may not turn it on...it makes Florida a very harsh place to live for those with health problems, the heat index and humidity is a killer. I just can't tolerate it like I did when I was younger, those days are gone.

We are staying put, got most windows still boarded, a few for some air ventilation along with fans. This generator is not big and other things it's covering, like the TV so I won't be on line much til we're back in full power. We are waiting for propane gas so we can use our new generator that will cover the house and air, called The Guardian. We got that in Georgia and I can't say enough about the great people that live there. They extended their hand to me and my family, Thank You Georgia. And thank you friends for the e-mails, prays, and good thoughts, you all are dear to me.:grouphug:

5. So glad to hear from you, Crew!!
I was worried. It's good to hear that people are rising to the occasion and being accommodating. That was so nice of them to take your pets.

Stay safe and stay cool.

17. Hello Crewleader!
I was wondering about you and hoping you and your family are ok. I'm still living in the Middle East, but we worried aobut my husband's family, too. Lots of trees came down in their area, and electricity was off for a long time.

I'm really hoping Ivan leaves Florida alone.

I also hope everything goes well for you and that they decide to turn on the power. Florida heat this time of year is too much!

18. So good to hear, Crew
I'm so glad to hear that all is well, relatively speaking. Nothing was lost that can't be replaced, thankfully.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers as you brace for round two.
Take care, friend. :hi:

20. Just got the power on late last night
and it didn't take long before I was ready to sleep in my own bed.
This past week I've been sleeping in my chair in front of a fan just blowing enough to keep the sweat away on my face, but hotter then hot this time of year.

Thanks friends for all your wonderful posts and seeing your names, I love you all too. :loveya:

Now we watch for Ivan, God I hope this is the last one.
Sorry to hear about your troubles Trumad, you were in line for Charlie and I was more in line with Frances. Though Charlie took my maple tree out back which landed on the screen but on the metal where it held up but Frances just collapsed it flat and that was one of those big screens with the gables ends to hang ferns in the ceiling.
I don't think screen rooms of that size is a good idea anymore with what they are saying for the next ten years of more action from hurricanes hitting Florida. Hang in there Trumad, we both will appreciate when November is here.

Thanks again my friends, this lady is grateful and may God watch over those in line for Ivan with the size of these hurricanes that's all of Florida. Stay Safe My Floridian Friends!

To my DU Friends, you've all been a comfort to me and your friendship I value dearly! :loveya:
