3. For some reason she looked hotter in that movie than any other I've seen

her in. In the Punisher I mean. You should just download that Mullholland drive scene off of Kazaa instead of watching a whole stupid movie. It really isn't that great. As with many chicks with Implants, her's look better under clothes than bare.

5. When I saw Mulholland Dr. I had no idea that scene was in there.
What a pleasant little surprise!

And I made the mistake of buying PUNISHER this week without having seen it first. I've loved all the other Marvel movies, and I love the Punisher, so how bad could it be? Pretty bad, apparently.

6. I did the same thing.
And I liked it, for what it was - a relatively low-budget action picture shot on a tight schedule.

I read the novelization before buying the DVD, and there's an entire prologue during the first Gulf War which had to be cut for budgetary reasons, and an entire subplot with Castle's FBI buddy which was cut out for time -- Hensleigh's first cut was 2 hours, 40 minutes...impossible for an action picture.

8. That prologue is in the comic that comes with the DVD.
It's written by the inimitable Garth Ennis, whose first Punisher story was the inspiration for a lot of the movie (Joan, Dave, Bumpo, the Russian, etc).

My main problem with the movie was that there were several very cool scenes (the popsicle interrogation was great), some scenes that were cool in the comics but just don't translate well to film (the fight with the Russianm, whose character is much more developed in the comics), and some scenes that are just plain awful (like the burning cars forming the shape of a skull when seen from the sky).

So I think of PUNISHER as a movie that isn't nearly as good as it could have been, but also not nearly as bad as it could have been. It's just an interesting addition to the Marvel superhero flicks, which I love.

9. Yeah.
Looks like the comic was drawn at a low budget, too.

I'm going to see if Ennis' Welcome Back, Frank is at my Barnes & Noble, as I've never read it -- but I thought the fight with the Russian was hysterically great. It was meant to be broad and over-the-top, hence the Rigoletto for comic effect.

As I said earlier, I think Hensleigh did a pretty good job, considering the time and budget restraints. If he'd had the time and $200 million they give to Sam Raimi to make the Spider-Man movies, you probably would've been more satisfied.

11. The DVD comic was drawn by Steve Dillon, who also did "Welcome Back Frank"
He and Ennis have worked together a lot, and they came back to Punisher after the first 12-issue mini-series ended.

They also worked together on "Preacher", the Greatest Comic Ever. If you haven't read that before, then pick that up instead. The first volume is called "Gone To Texas" and it's absolutely amazing.
