Can anybody tell me why this ain't flag desecration?
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 11:55 AM by BJ

Well, besides the obvious that the model's as hot as an jalapeno chili pepper. But the reactionaries get all hot and bothered if the American flag's burned as part of a legitimate protest. Yet they don't seemed to fazed by designers using the American flag as wearing apparel.

Hey, I'm no prude but a isn't an "American flag" jock strap going a little too far?

1. You're right
Futhermore, flying a flag from your vehicle until it's in tatters is also desecration of the flag, imho.

3. Flag desecation, my definition, includes wearing it as clothing
So this would indeed be flag desecration.

7. I'm with ya there.
IMO, George H.W. Bush is guilty of flag desecartion. Remember when he showed up in Athens with an American flag lining of his sports coat?

4. I think it's flag improvement
Especially if it offends John Ashcroft, Jerry Falwell and Dr. Laura.

5. It's Got A Stars And Stripes Pattern...
... but it doesn't appear to be made from an actual flag. I don't have a problem with it.

It's not something that I'd buy for myself... and it's just a tad bit tacky... but what the hell? I say more power to them. (Especially if it burns the asses of the conservative flag worshippers.)

6. No
Not unless it's made from an actual American flag. Wearing flag style print is not desecration. A lot of hippies took to wearing flag stuff in the 60's and 70's too. So the right wing aren't the only ones who can wear flag prints.

8. This was all settled back in the Viet Nam war era when
the government tried to prosecute Abbie Hoffman for wearing a shirt apparently made from a flag. He was acquitted and within a few months the stores were filled with flag motif clothing of all sorts. There is or was even a display of flag type clothing in the Smithsonian's Americana section.

12. IMHO
you can't desecrate a flag, because it's a peice of cloth, not sacred. but it should be respected. and this certainly does not respect it. thats what gets me about RWers...you claim to worship the flag, yet you slap it onto whatever cheap shit you think will sell

14. It is against the law to wear the flag as clothing
However, flag motif clothing is not against the law.
