9. 1,000,000 is not really that much
I mean it's beyond anything I'll ever have, sure. But when it comes down to it, if you invest, conservatively, $1,000,000 you might make $40,000/year before taxes and fees. That ain't enough to live like a king in most places in the US for your entire life.

3. Not much background in one line
Some of these people didn't make their fortunes in what they're doing now. It would be of more interest to list in which company they made their fortune.

For instance, Dan Snyder didn't make his money from the Redskins. He bought the Redskins after he's made over a $billion with his firm, Snyder Communications.

Marc Andreessen didn't get rich on OpsWare. He was the founder of Netscape and made many hundreds of millions in its IPO.

I don't know who Jeff Skoll is, but I suspect he started the Skoll Foundation after making a fortune in some industry.

Michael Robertson founded MP3.com

And I really doubt Jared Polis racked up a $160M fortune working for the Colorado State Board of Education

Jared Polis suckered MSN into buying his company, Bluemountain.com

and it's interesting that all these people are self made (sure, many started with several million, but have turned their fortunes over a hundred fold.) are there no inheritance people here? or did fortune decide to only focus on self made people?

I mean you can make this list with only (snicker) a 106 million, surely there are at least 50 people under the age of 40 in the US who have inherited this kind of money?

If either of the Google co-founders exercised all their options at once, those billions would cease to be billions right quick
