Starting up a website for lost & found birds (we have a big problem in FL)

I'm starting with the Florida area. If anyone knows of any lost and found birds (especially those that have been lost as a result of the hurricanes) let me know. I lost my cockatiel and now have found 2 of them so I sort of have a temporary bird shelter.

For birds in other states/countries visit theses sites:

www.jaxlostpets.org/

1. Petfinder classifieds page

probably wouldn't be a bad place to look, either:

http://www.petfinder.org/post/classifiedhop.html

You can choose 'Lost' or 'Found' from this page and enter the state. It'll mostly be dogs and cats, but I have seen some birds listed here.

Edit: You really should check there -- I ran the 'lost' ads for Florida and there are several birds in the listings. They update frequently, usually there's about a week's worth of listings, though they may cycle faster now because of pets lost in the storms.

3. I've never had any luck there, either ...
I volunteer at an animal shelter and check Petfinder every week after I go in and do kenneling, to see if any of the animals in the 'hold' room are reported as lost.

We did find our dog through the PetsMart/Petfinder adoption program, though.

Of course, most of the lost pet pages cater to dog and cat owners. Local newspapers' classified sections are also good resources.

4. On my site, I have all of the sites listed in order of usefullness
The best ones are on top and the ones with really old listings or very few birds are at the bottom.
