1. I guess it isn't about groundbreaking but...
J. Geils Band?!

Other than that, seems more than reasonable.

2. I feel the same way about Randy Newman
Seriously, the hell? I didn't realize just being prolific qualified you for this, but whatever.

10. Geils Were a Great Live Band
They were doing blues & boogie when everyone else was using the Southern Cali sound to put everyone to sleep.

3. I'm digging Grandmaster Flash...
...they were one of the original rap bands out there - pioneers in the field.

That could be quite a combo: Grandmaster Flash, Sex Pistols and U2

4. I'll bet a million dollars
that the J. Geils Band gets in while the Stooges and Pistols get snubbed.

6. I won't take your bet...
because I agree with you

U2 doesn't belong in there, either. They are the most overrated band not named The Red Hot Chili Peppers

8. U2 are as good as in.
I live about a mile and a half from the Rock Hall. They've had a gigantic U2 banner on the front entrance for months.

9. How Many Do They Take? 7?

U2 is a shoe in.

I'd like to see acknowledged but would hate to see institutionalized:

Pretenders
Pistols
Stooges
Patti Smith

Way overdue:

Wanda Jackson
Percy Sledge
Buddy Guy
O'Jays

Due:

Gram Parsons
Randy Newman
Geils

Due for the shit they crapped out:

Lynyrd Skynryd

11. Lynyrd Skynyrd
They made some of the greatest Rock and Roll music ever but they really need to just give it up. It isn't even close to the same band and it is sad. Sort of like seeing a baseball player try to keep on playing past his prime. So induct Lynyrd Skynyrd and when they accept the much deserved award, they should announce their retirement. That actually would be kind of cool. The R and R Hall of Fame being their last performance.
