Weird church sign of the day...

There have been some up sometimes that I'm so curious to know what they're getting at, I almost go, just to see...

1. God Bless the War and the President

read the sign in front of the Primitive Baptist church. Does God bless wars?

2. Primitive Baptist Church? What is a Primitive Baptist? Do they carry

clubs and wear pelts?

I just figured they were the less evolved of the Southern Baps.

3. My favorite was a Church of Christ.

It was in a smallish town in the county next to Cincinnati, where I lived for a while back in the '90s. The marquee sign out front said:

"Life is the thing that happens while you're busy making other plans."

The quote is clever, and I'm sure the guy at the church who picked it for the sign broke his arm patting himself on the back. He'd have pissed himself if he'd known how the little gem got into common usage, though -- it was in a song by John Lennon, Mr. 'more popular than Christ.'

I laughed about it every day for a week, until they put another one up.

5. "The best position is on your knees."

A sign like that is a hazard to public safety. Think of how many traffic accidents it must cause.
