Today in the grocery store I saw a fine lookin' young lady. In order to get a better look I deliberately went over and checked out the lettuce which is what she was lookin' at. I had no intention of buying any lettuce.

Would a woman ever do that?

I was in a meeting the other day and this SCRUMMY looking piece of 25 year old meat came in (and normally I don't dig the babies) and whooooooo, my concentration went RIGHT out the door. He was there to fix the thermostat, so he was one of those getting dirty blue-collar guys (my favorite, I married one) with kind of ripped jeans and a face too gorgeous for humanity. You could tell his legs were muscley even through the jeans.

I have always had closer non sexual male friends than most women do. I also get checked out often because I have big breasts for my size. I also had a lot of close female friends, especially in college. Yes women, especially single, check men out. It has been my observation though that middle aged and younger men will check out women constantly regardless of their relational status and tend to be checking out a higher percentage of women. Women tend to check out less men if they are in a committed relationship. They also tend to check out fewer men in general, only the most exceptional ones. These are generalities, of course.

I've actually been checking out a couple who runs around my neighborhood half-naked every morning! He wears just a pair of shorts and she wears the tiniest sports bra. By the time they get to my block, their all sweaty.

of course, I'm only one woman. We check them out; I just don't think we check them out in quite the same way.

Not that I don't notice nice looking men; I do. It's more like looking at a nice car. I can admire without wanting to drive it, fantasizing about driving it, talking to my friends about driving it, or actually going over to see if it's available.

I think men are attracted visually to a higher degree than women are. At least in my case, voice, intellect, and character are just as important as visual cues. Once I actually know someone, those are a bigger influence on whether or not I find someone attractive than physical characteristics.
