Is Sep. 11 an anniversary of something else for you?
For me, Sep. 11 is my parents' anniversary, and also the anniversary of my grandmother's death in 2000.

Anyone else marking something other than the WTC attacks today, either good or bad?

Take care, everyone,

The Plaid Adder

3. Good idea for a thread. The 10th is, but not the 11th.
It was four years ago yesterday that Mrs. V. and I hit the road in Huntington Beach, CA, with two cats in the back seat of the Tercel, to drive cross-country to the DC area to join our lives.

11th bad, but related to 2001 (so maybe this doesn't count): was the primary catalyst for some significant PTSD-related physical health problems for Mrs. V. Three years later, we're seeing significant light.

4. It's my only daughter's birthday. Thanks for
asking. The poor girl sort of gets lost in the shuffle these days.

I wrote a LTTE about that last year and she actually got a few nice cards from strangers who read it.

7. How could I have forgotten?! On Sept. 11 2001, something good.
You know what the day was like -- it was miserable for everyone. We dragged home after a four-hour commute (35 miles from work in DC to home in So. MD). Before we went to bed, I went down to the basement for the daily kitten check: to see if Patches, the feral cat we were fostering, had given birth yet.

She had! Our Petey & Toby (and our friend's cats Scout & Clay) were born on that otherwise miserable day. It was a tremendous joy and I'll never, ever forget it.

8. My cats' birthday
Well, two of them, at least. They would have been 4 today, but since I lost my mom and therefore, had to give up the cats, they had been put to sleep--back in February, 2003!

R.I.P., Smokey and Bandit. I miss you guys.

10. On 9/11/01 My G.F. and I got some very good news.
After surgery for breast cancer a few days earlier, she received a call from the hospital that new biopsies showed that it had not spread. It was very strange watching the towers burn and come down and feeling relief and joy too. It was the best of times and the worst of times.
