Have you ever gone on a news blackout?

Sometimes the news seems so downbeat I just throw my hands in the air and say Fuck it, I'm not following it anymore.

Anybody else ever voluntarily start ignoring all news sources for as long as you can, out of pure frustration with the chimp news media?

My "blackouts" usually only last around 5 days max, however, then I'm back into the abyss of chimp news. If you have family that avidly watches TV, it's even harder to do.

1. I gave up on the mainstream media
Back when ownership rules were relaxed and they all became a bunch of corporate shills.

2. Not really, I email the piss out of them - calling out their Bushit.
However, I think direct protesting is the only way to stop them from being so right winged.

3. If Bush wins Im unplugging for sure....
...internal emigration.

Tuning out politics completely...dropping out of online forums, no tv political shows or NPR radio....no more voting. Im out of the game at that point.

4. I've almost completely stopped watching the news.
If * wins again, then as far as I'm concerned, news media is dead to me.

5. Labor Day long week end.
My uncle passed away last month.
Had a mini family reunion with his kids and grandkids, my daughter's family, to clear out his house.
No cable, no TV.
It was nice.

6. Yes...going on 15 day blackout before the election.
I'm going to be in France for two weeks. Fly back Nov. 1, vote on the 2nd.

Also went on blackout during the RNC Convention, at the behest of my partner.
