Jadakiss - Why REMIX lyrics - Urge all DU'ers to read!
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 06:48 PM by mark414
i'm sure many of us have heard of the album version of this song, o'lielly brought it up on his show for lines like:

"Why did bush knock down the towers"

and

"Why Halle have to let a white man pop her to get a Oscar
Why Denzel have to be crooked before he took it"

and

"Why'd we let the Terminator win the election, come on pay attention"

but the remix featuring Styles P, Common and Nas just KILLS!

check out these lyrics (some of them make a lot more sense if you're familiar with these guys' careers, but there's still some great lines in there for everyone)

(Intro - Anthony Hamilton)
All that I'm given
It's this pain that I'm living (The Remix, The Remix)
They got me in the system
Why they gotta do me like that

(Styles P)
Why is garbage music selling a lot
Why is the music industry state of mind real far from Hip Hop
Why vote republican if you black
Why build more jails, less schools cuz we under attack
Why keep the full pound in the air
The revolution will not be televised if around here
Why keep my right fist in the sky
I let them know that "We Gonna Make It", don't plan our demise
Why you gotta teach your kids on your own
Cuz when you get in the zone, they bringing you in, you both getting cloned
Why we still gotta pray to Allah
It's Hip Hop, this the New World Order and they playin us hard
Why rappers getting protection
Why the country ain't flipped when they jerked the votes the last election
Why die for all my beliefs
I gotta look at my kids I rather smile then cry when he's sleep
That's why

(Chorus - Anthony Hamilton)
Why
Why they got me strugglin, why
All the brothas caught behind bars
Drained up in the system going crazy
I'm battling my pistol going why

(Common)
Why do niggas say I changed for a girl
Why you worried bout my clothes if my flow gonna change the world
Why you wait till you 30 then try to be hard
Why I gotta have religion if I believe in God
Why is Bush acting like he trying to get Osama
Why don't we impeach him and elect Obama
Why ain't Rick James remembered for classic hits
Why do we remember Rick for smackin a bitch
Why did Ricky Williams retire, they mad at Miami
Why did Justin sell Janet out and go to the Grammy's
Why you kill on every song, why you frown at discriminance
So many thrones, why we argue who is the King
Why it's over for gangsta, why it's over for bling
Why they hype Britney up, they know she can't sing
Why rip entertainment, black american dream
Why I know it in my heart it remains unseen
Why

(Chorus)

(Nas)
Registered voter not blood of a panther
Why is the question what is the answer
Got a suggestion, here's an example
Why won't we build our own airline, states, and highways
Fly to Africa, do some trades with Zimbabwe
Why did Malcolm's mission die with the man
Why we ain't pick it up where he left it and carry out his plan
Why the merger try to exclude L.A. Reid
He brought you Usher, Outkast top-selling CD's
Why do half America got AIDS
Why do schools care about your son's braids more than they care for his grades
Why they hate our white t-shirts and hats turned backwards
And why is Jesus Christ never played by black actors
And why there ain't a MC that can touch me nor budge me
And why is Nas the best thing in rap since Chuck D
And why this record ain't sell 5 mill yet
Jada's as real as it get
Put my money where my mouth is
We teach something bout this

(Chorus)

(Jadakiss)
Yo by thugs I'm surrounded
Tell me why is it the money motivates me but the love keeps me grounded
Why my cases ain't get thrown out
Why team USA keep getting blown out
Why the Democratic party ain't getting with me
Why they still hanging black bodies in Mississippi
Yea, why did governor McGreevey get caught with a lizard
Why they take away Shyne's phone calls and visits
Why I been hot for 7 years
Why the new M5 come with 7 gears
Please tell me why y'all keep making that trash
Why they reinstating the draft, why is it so much hating you have
And why sell records and keep working
Why we go on stage with the bread with the feet working
It's real, why when I loved on die you miss them
Why it took for me to make "Why" for y'all to listen

(Chorus)

1. Indeed this song is one of the more powerful
rap songs to come out in a long time.

I thoght the original version, lyrically was one of the best in some time but the remix just blows that one away.

8. Agreed. The guy is a bit crude, but he's smart as hell :)
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 07:13 PM by ET Awful
The first rapper I remember hearing and being really political and smart as hell was KRS-1 and Boogie Down Productions :)

There was earlier stuff that was on point politically, but KRS was the first one that made me say DAMN! when I heard what he had to say :).

Like his "Beef" to talk people into being vegetarians :) :

Beef, what a relief
When will this poisonous product cease?
This is another public service announcement
You can believe it, or you can doubt it
Let us begin now with the cow
The way it gets to your plate and how
The cow doesn't grow fast enough for man
So through his greed he makes a faster plan
He has drugs to make the cow grow quicker
Through the stress the cow gets sicker
Twenty-one different drugs are pumped
Into the cow in one big lump
So just before it dies, it cries
In the slaughterhouse full of germs and flies
Off with the head, they pack it, drain it, and cart it
And there it is, in your local supermarket
Red and bloody, a corpse, neatly packed
And you wonder about heart attacks?
Come on now man let's be for real
You are what you eat is the way I feel
But, the Food and Drug Administration
Will tell you meat is the perfect combination
See cows live under fear and stress
Trying to think what's gonna happen next
Fear and stress can become a part of you
In your cells and blood, this is true
So when the cow is killed, believe it
You preserve those cells, you freeze it
Thaw it out with the blood and season it
Then you sit down and begin eatin it
In your body, it's structure becomes your structure
All the fear and stress of another
Any drug is addictive by any name
Even drugs in meat, they are the same
The FDA has America strung out
On drugs in beef no doubt
So if you think that what I say is a bunch of crock
Tell yourself you're gonna try and stop
Eatin meat and you'll see you can't compete
It's the number one drug on the street
Not crack, cause that was made for just black
But brown beef, for all American teeth
Life brings life and death brings death
Keep on eatin the dead and what's left
Absolute disease and negative
Read the book 'How to Eat to Live'
By Elijah Muhammad, it's a brown paperback
For anybody, either white or black
See how many cows must be pumped up fatter
How many rats gotta fall in the batter
How many chickens that eat shit you eat
How much high blood pressure you get from pig feet
See you'll consume, the FDA could care less
They'll sell you donkey meat and say it's
FRESH! For nineteen-ninety, you SUCKERS

11. "The Style You Haven't Done Yet"
Intro

The number one set and sound...live! Ghetto Music. Produced by
KRS-One.

Widdy-bye-bye bye-bye bye-bye bye
Widdy-bye-bye bye-bye bye-bye bye

Come in!

Verse 1

Many have claimed to attain levels in rhymin'
But when I listen to 'em I see they're only lyin'
They're tryin', but after some years if you ain't got it
Lay it down, put it down, find a way to try and stop it
Or change it, rearrange it, be a producer
Don't touch the microphone because you'll always be the loser
And laughed at, smirked on, you don't belong
With those that perform their song on and on
And on and on and on, yo, let's get specific
This style is for the gifted, poetically uplifted
I speak to you, not at you to attack you
Maybe when I'm through with this rhyme I'll get a statue
So now I ax you or tell you people literally
When it comes to rockin' funky lyrics few are better than me
Down with BDP, endlessly recitin' poetry
Any time I'm in the street, you hear my voice, you know it's me
KR...nope! I'm not ready to say my name yet
Many say they teach, but this style they haven't attained yet

Widdy-bye-bye bye, widdy-bye-bye bye bye, widdy bye-bye!
Bye-bye bye-bye bye, widdy-bye-bye bye bye, widdy bye-bye!
Bye bye bye bye, widdy-bye-bye bye bye, widdy bye-bye!
Bye-bye bye-bye bye, widdy-bye-bye bye bye

Verse 2

Run it, son, plumb it you bum
Don't you know that it's KRS-One
That comes to sing the styles that ain't sung
I rocked the party, but oh! Gotta run
Cos only the suckers want a chance at that
To see if KRS-One is really all that
Instead of a rap I jap-slap all of 'em back
Because the teacher that you see is not wack
I'd like to stack up all the hits that I've made
Three albums, a triple-layer cake
And throw it in your face you waste
Pick up the pace and taste a poet from the black race
While I whip you whine, you're out of touch
I'm out of time, here's another rhyme

(The black man's in effect. Jeeeeeeesus! Oh gosh, dude. Oh gosh. Oh
yes, dude. Yes)

(What's the name of that crew? B.D.P)

(Say what? I'm not down with the Juice Crew)

12. Love's gonna get ya
Ya know that's why man I be telling you all the time man, you know LOVE,
that word love is a very serious thing, and if you don't watch out I tell ya
that (Love's gonna get you) because a lot of people out here say "i love my
car" or "i love my chain" or or "i'm i'm just in love with that girl over
there" so far all the people out there that fall in love with material items
we gonna bump the beat a lil' something like this

im in junior high with a b plus grade,
at the end of the day i don't hit the arcade,
I walk from school to my moms apartment,
I got to tell the suckas everyday "don't start it",
cause where I'm at if your soft your lost,
to say on course means to roll with force,
a boy named Rob is chillin in a Benz,
in front of my building with the rest of his friends,
I give him a pound, oh i mean i shake his hand,
he's the neighborhood drug dealer, my man,
i go upstair and hug my mother,
kiss my sister, and punch my brother,
i sit down on my bed to watch some tv,
(machine gun fire) do my ears decieve me,
Nope, thats the fourth time this week,
another fast brother shot dead in the street,
the very next day while im off to class,
my moms goes to work cold busting her ass,
my sisters cute but she got no gear,
i got three pairs of pants and with my brother i share,
see there in school see i'm made a fool,
with one and a half pair of pants you aint cool,
but there's no dollars for nothing else,
i got beans, rice, and bread on my shelf,
every day i see my mother struggling,
now its time i've got to do something,
i look for work i get dissed like a jerk,
i do odd jobs and come home like a slob,
so here comes Rob hes cold and shivery,
he gives me two hundred for a quick delivery,
i do it once, i do it twice,
now theres steak with the beans and rice,
my mother's nervous but she knows the deal,
my sister's gear now has sex appeal,
my brothers my partner and we're getting paper,
three months later we run our own caper,
my family's happy everything is new,
now tell me what the fuck am i supposed to do,

CHORUS

thats why, (loves gonna get you)
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)
you fall in love with your chain,
you fall in love with your car,
loves gonna sneak right up and snuff you from behind,
so i want you to check the story out as we go down the line,
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)

money's flowing, everything is fine,
got myself an uzi and my brother a nine,
business is boomin' everything is cool,
i pull about a g a week fuck school,
a year goes by and i begin to grow,
not in height but juice and cash flow,
i put up my feet and begin to watch tv,
cause now i got other people working for me,
i got a 55 inch television you know,
and every once in awhile i hear just say no,
or the other commercial i love,
is when they say, this is your brain on drugs,
i pick up my remote control and just turn,
cause with that bullshit im not concerned,
see me and my brother jump in the BM,
driving around our territory again,
i stop at the light like a superstar,
and automatic weapons cold sprayed my car,
i hit the accelerater scared as shit,
and drove one block to find my brother was hit,
he wasn't dead but the blood was pouring,
and all i could think about was war and,
later i found that it was Rob and his crew,
now tell me what the fuck am i supposed to do,

ya know thats why, (loves gonna get you)
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(love loves gonna get you)
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)
(love loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)
that word love is very very serious(loves gonna get you)
very addictive

my brothers out of it, but i'm still in it,
on top of that im in it to win it,
i can't believe that Rob would diss me,
that faggot, that punk, he's soft a sissy,
i'm driving around now with three of my guys,
the war is on and i'm on the rise,
we rolled right up to his favorite hang out,
said hello and then the bullets rang out,
some fired back so we took cover,
and all i could think about was my brother,
Rob jumped up and began to run,
busting shots hoping to hit someone,
so I just stopped, and let off three shots,
two hit him and one hit a cop,
I threw the gun down and began to shout,
come on I got him it's time to break out,
but as we ran there were the boys in blue,
pointing their guns at my four man crew,
they shot down one, they shot down two,
now tell me what the fuck am i supposed to do,

(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)
(love loves gonna get you)
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)
(love loves gonna get you)
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you),
(loves gonna get you)
(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)(loves gonna get you)
(love loves gonna get you)
ya know a lot of people believe that that word Love is real soft, but when
you use it in your vocabulary like your addicted to it it sneaks right up
and takes you right out. out. out. out. out.
So, for future reference remember it's alright to like or want a material
item, but when you fall in love with it and you start scheming and carrying
on for it, just remember, it's gonna get'cha

4. YES!
might as well post those on here too:

Ball Of Confusion (That's What The World Is Today)
The Temptations
Written by: Barrett Strong/Norman Whitfield

People moving out,
People moving in.
why, because of the color of their skin
run, run, run but you sho' can't hide

An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,
vote for me and I'll set you free
rap on, brother, rap on

The only person talking about love thy brother is the preacher
and it seems
nobody's interested in learning
but the teacher

segregation, determination, demonstration, intergration,
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation

Ball of confusion, oh yeah
That's what the world is today, hey

The sale of pills are at an all time high
young folks walking round with their heads in the sky
the cities ablaze in the summertime, and oh
the beat goes on

evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul
shooting rockets to the moon
kids growing up too soon
politicians say more taxes, will solve everything
and the band played on

So, round and around and around we go
where the world's headed, nobody knows

Oh, Great Googamooga, can't you hear me talking to you
just a ball of confusion, oh yeah
that's what the world is today, hey

Fear in the air, tension everywhere
unemployment rising fast, the Beatles new record's a gas
and the only safe place to live, is on an indian reservation
and the band played on

Eve of destruction, tax deduction
city inspectors, bill collectors
mod clothes in demand,
population out of hand,
suicide, too many bills
hippies moving to the hills
people all over the world are shouting end the war
and the band played on

Oh, Great Googamooga, can't you hear me talking to you
just a ball of confusion,
that's what the world is today, hey
